Today I had the pleasure of photographing the latest addition to my friend B’s family. Little Atticus was very curious to check out everything that was going on, and while he was happy to sleep, he wasn’t happy to be moved at all while he was doing so (but, really, can you blame him?). I had been anxiously awaiting Atticus’ arrival for some time now and was so excited to finally get to meet him. It is amazing how much he looks like his older brother (and his mama)! Atticus also has the distinction of being the last newborn in my studio before I shut down for our move and a much anticipated hiatus to focus on my own family and children. I am so very glad that I was able to get the chance to photograph Atticus before hanging up my camera. Thank you to Atticus’ mom for bringing him in today–I will miss you and getting together with our boys when we make our move back East (and quite possibly when you also make your move out West!).

Ottawa|Barrhaven Newborn Photographer

One of the first newborn sessions I photographed after moving to Ottawa nearly two years ago was of Isley’s big sister. Things have really come full circle now that I find myself photographing sweet little Isley as one of my last newborn sessions before my move back to Nova Scotia. Isley’s mama was a huge help and great friend to me when we moved here not having any family or knowing anyone in the area AND she referred many of my initial clients to me so I was very pleased to be here to capture her second child. It was so amazing to note the differences and similarities between Isley and her big sister at this age. Seeing how these little girls, and all of the newborns I have photographed grow will be one of the things I will miss most about Ottawa.

Handsome little Wallace was in the studio at the end of last week and what a joy he was. He had the cutest expressions and was awake and alert a lot of the time. Sweet little Benjamin was in the studio this week. Weighing in at less than 9 pounds it may surprise you is that Benjamin is 9 weeks old. That’s because little Benjamin is one tough little cookie–he was so anxious to enter this world that he arrived 11 weeks early at just over 3 pounds! That means that little Benjamin hasn’t even reached his original due date, and I am so happy that after an extended hospital stay he is now home with his family where he belongs and doing well (I can attest that he is super strong!). Thank you to Benjamin’s parents for making the long drive to the studio for Benjamin’s session, it was a pleasure to have you here and photograph this sweet little guy. I’ve got my eye on you!” and be sure to closely at the image of Benjamin with his mama–I just love how he spontaneously reached up to touch her cheek while she cradled him in her arms
